Dubrovnik is known as the pearl of the Adriatic, and has over 1400 protected historical buildings. The city is surrounded by a wall 2 km long which history says defended the City from attack on both land and sea. With many islands around, and a clear blue sea, a National Park, old villas and promenades, this is what makes the Dubrovnik Riviera one of the most sought after resorts in Croatia.
The hospitality of the locals is second to none and they are more than happy to recommend somewhere special to eat. Dubrovnik offers a variety of dishes that are normally cooked according to old traditional recipes. A lot of dishes are fish based, cooked of course in olive oil.
The beaches here are mainly pebble beaches, but very good for swimming. Nightlife in town can be quite lively, as there are numerous discos and open air parties are quite common.
