Further north from St Paul's Bay lies the town of Mellieha, which sits on top of a hill, overlooking the 'tail end' of Malta. An attractive hilltop village with a central street winding downhill. It is also surrounded by fertile valleys and most spots provide good panoramas of the countryside, the Bay (which has the longest beach in Malta) and northwards towards Comino and Gozo.Mellieha is 1- 2 km inland but Mellieha Bay has the longest and one of the best beaches on Malta, and also on a fairly frequent bus route.
Buses also go near to Paradise Bay and to Armier Bay. If you engoy a good walk, both are in walking distance.
Additional beaches are also in walking distace -again if you want a fair walk. Golden Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay and nudist beach Gnejna bay. Buses go to Golden Bay,and very near to Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, but you will have to change buses at St Pauls Bay to go to these bays. Gnejna bay is about 1 km from the road and bus stop near to Ghajn Tuffieha Bay.

The Maltese Islands are set in the heart of the Mediterranean with a climate that is heavily influenced by the surrounding seas. Malta's summer months are hot, dry and very sunny with temperatures peaking at around 31C in August. Malta and the nearby island of Gozo have very stable climates year round and begin to heat up in April with little rain during the summer season between April and August. Malta lies between Southern Italy and Africa so the climate is very similar, and is also comparable with Southern Greece. The high daytime temperatures are cooled down by sea breezes that also affect Italy and Greece but Malta is usually drier due to the short sea distance of the African coast.
