A Monte Gordo holiday will take you to the east of Faro airport and amongst one of the most uniquely spacious towns in the Algarve.
It is also one of the flatter parts of the region, so is ideal for walking and cycling. Those looking for more ambitious activity, however, will find a range of golf courses just a few miles drive outside of the town, as well as an array of watersports on offer.
The large, cobbled squares about the town have some great restaurants and bars worth sampling, with locally sourced seafood having a certain presence, as is common with many Algarve resorts. Being towards the eastern end of Portugal's south coast, the sea is pleasantly a few degrees warmer, making a Monte Gordo holiday one that will please kids who love to swim and explore.
