Fuerteventura is an enchanting destination, generally considered to be the least developed of the Canary Islands and also the quietest. If you are searching for huge lively resorts pulsating with energy then look elsewhere, but if you are seeking some of the worlds most magnificent, unspoilt beaches basking in virtually guaranteed sunshine - then Fuerteventura holidays are right for you. Fuerteventura weather is ideal for sunbathing and long walks along the beach. This island is definitely a sun seekers paradise. The resort has the largest number of long sandy beached and large sand dunes in the Canary Islands. It is also renowned for windsurfing and other water sports, which the more active holidaymaker may wish to enjoy during their Fuerteventura holiday. Fuerteventura hotels are plentiful and varied and villas in the resort are spacious. Fuerteventura flights are available from most UK airports.

Perfect for a summer or winter holiday, the island of Fuerteventura boasts a fantastic climate, with plenty of warm, dry days accompanied by lots of sunshine. Like the rest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year, with the average temperature of 21c.
The close proximity to the African coastline ensures plenty of sunshine, with Fuerteventura boasting an average of 320 sun-filled days a year. Closer to Africa than the other Canaries Islands, Fuerteventura is the driest of them all, receiving the hotter trade winds from the North and less rain. The island does receive a little rainfall, generally between October and March, but the showers tend to be brief and generally affect the north and the higher parts of the island. What little precipitation the island does receive adds greenery to the central and north-west region, but in general the rest of Fuerteventura is quite desert-like and rather barren, especially the east.
The Canary Islands are in the same time zone as the UK. Local time is GMT in the winter (GMT +1 between the last Sunday in March and the Saturday before the last Sunday in October).
Spanish is the official language, but
English is widely understood in areas frequented by tourists.
Electrical current is 220 or 225 volts, 50Hz.
European-style two-pin plugs are standard.
Hotel and restaurant bills usually include service charges, but additional tips are welcomed for services rendered. In established restaurants tips of about 10% are expected. Drivers of metered taxis expect small tips and it is customary to tip usually 5-10% for most services, including guides.
The international access code for Spain is +34. The outgoing code is 00 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 0044 for the United Kingdom).
