Spain’s official currency is the Euro often signified by € or EUR. One Euro is divided into 100 cents. Money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, but banks give the best rates. All major credit cards and travellers cheques are widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are widespread and are generally the cheapest and most convenient method of obtaining money. The Euro is used in 12 members of the European Union. The glorious Ibiza sunshine is a draw for holidaymakers from around the world. The summer season begins in May and the beaches begin to become popular as the weather heats up. Beaches such as Cala Bassa, Cala Llonga and Es Casa benefit from beautiful clear skies and temperatures averaging around 23C. The summer months can get extremely hot but there is always a cool breeze from the surrounding sea and you are never more than 10 kilometres away from the sea at any point on the island. The climate in Ibiza is basically warm all year round, which means that you do not have to wait until the summer season for a sunshine break, Easter holidays in Ibiza can be as warm as the summer season. From November to April the average daytime temperature is between 15C and 25C. Rainfall on Ibiza is usually only one day per month in the summer and no more than three days per month in winter. An Ibiza winter holiday in May or October is a great time to visit as the island becomes very fresh and green. Holidaymakers can benefit from tranquil strolls on the beaches with an average of 7 to 10 hours of sunshine per day.

Spanish is the official language, but English is widely understood in areas frequented by tourists. Catalan, Galician and Basque are spoken in the relevant areas.
Electrical current is 220 or 225 volts, 50Hz. European-style two-pin plugs are standard.
Hotel and restaurant bills usually include service charges, but additional tips are welcomed for services rendered. In established restaurants tips of about 10% are expected. Drivers of metered taxis expect small tips and it is customary to tip usually 5-10% for most services, including guides.
The international access code for Spain is +34. The outgoing code is 00 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 0044 for the United Kingdom).
