A Port El Kantaoui holiday is one of leisure and luxury

A Port El Kantaoui holiday will take you 10 km north of Sousse and to one of the most luxuriously purpose built resorts in Tunisia. Just a thirty-minute drive from Monastir airport, the resort has been consistently popular with European holidaymakers since its initial development at the turn of the 1980s, and it’s easy to see why. Its coastal area encompasses a huge marina, accommodating up to three hundred vessels at a time, as well as two very long, spacious beaches, covered in fine, golden sands.

Currency

The unit of currency is the Tunisian dinar (TND), divided into 1,000 millimes.  Travellers cheques are widely accepted.  ATMs are found in most towns and at all the tourist resorts, almost all will accept Visa cards and many will also accept Maestro debit cards. Visa, Diners Club, American Express and MasterCard are accepted for payment in souvenir shops, upmarket hotels and restaurants, although Visa encounters the least problems.  All Tunisian currency must be exchanged before departure.

Language

The overwhelming majority speak Arabic and French.  English is taught in all schools and is increasingly spoken especially by younger people.  Some German and Italian is also spoken.

Port El Kantaoui Climate

A summer holiday at Port El Kantaoui means clear blue skies with hour after hour of glorious sunshine.  In fact, the weather there is as appealing as the hassle-free vibe and the choice of activities and sports on offer.  With the average temperature in July and August being a fantastic 33C, and hardly any summer rainfall, Port El Kantaoui is a sun-worshipper’s dream.  Through the winter season expect milder weather, of course, with temperatures levelling out at an average of 17C.

Tipping

Tipping is not a requirement but appreciated for good service in local establishments. Most people performing a useful service will wait to be tipped. Waiters in resort and hotel restaurants expect a tip of around 10%.
